Autumn Family Adventure at Highland Hills #FallFun2019

Last Sunday,we decided to have a little adventure. My friends daughter lives in Highland Hills in Follansbee and they always hangout there since there plenty of space to run around, ride bikes, and explore the beauty of nature.  My daughter wanted to share how beautiful the view us so we went.

The place didn't disappoint.  There's a beautiful memorial garden where we decided to take some family photos.  I brought our camera and tripod to take the opportunity to capture the beauty of Autumn and also capture the moments of our adventure.
The houses nearby probably thinks that we are weirdos for taking photos in the cemetery lol.
Adjacent to the place us the Ohio River which provide picturesque view.
While the two anti-photo members of our family went ahead, I asked my son to pose for me.  The view is beautiful!
My hair stands up when I see creepy-crawlies like worms but our son loves to make them crawl in his hand.
Am I the only one who is afraid of worms?  Oh I can't stand the sight of them.  I would rather mess around with spiders, which is a big no-no to my husband 😂.
Anyway, I was trying to direct my kids for some photos but they just goof around so I just captured the fun.
Aside from the. river view, I thought this part of the cemetery is beautiful.  My husband calls it mini-Parthenon ☺.  I wanted to have our family picture taken in it.
Self timer in cameras comes in handy, it's just hard to run and pose with them lol.
Enjoying the river view.  If I am one of the residents near the area, I would frequent this place, the view was amazing.  It would be a great place to sit and contemplate, enjoy the view and the breeze.
My kids were wondering if we will ever capture a wandering soul in our pictures.  Fortunately there was none in the photos.
This was at the back of the mausoleum.  It represent the remains of the ones previously buried at the Steubenville site some 3,700 years ago.

New Year, New Beginnings, New #FamilyGoals

We are few hours away from  saying goodbye to 2017.  I am grateful that despite the fact that we lost loved ones this year, we are still blessed that we have food in the table in every meal everyday and that my family is healthy.  The kids  and husband suffered from  cold here and there but it wasn't   serious so I am so grateful for this year.
Our  weather advisory said that  a frost bite can be possible for longer exposure outdoors but we can't  let the  2017 end without us  playing in the snow.  This is my first time  going out with them but they have been out playing for few times ever since it started snowing.
Before we went to the  place where they want to sled ride, we took  some  family photos first at our backyard.
There's a community  college campus a few blocks away from our home and  it has  slopes that  is good for  sled riding so we always go there during winter.
I can understand  that my husband  does not feel the  cold because his body is always warm but I don't  get is how my children can stay outside without  feeling the pain  that I was feeling being out for half an hour.  I guess, their bodies are designed for cold temperature when they were born, since I was't born and raised here, I could never get used to cold weather.
But anyway, as long as the kids are having fun, it's what it counts.
As we were having fun, we  were talking about how appreciate we  were of the  home that we have.  My son said that he feel so bad for the homeless who doesn't have  a home that they  can stay warm or even a heater to  make them stay warm the whole winter. We told them that we can always pray for them that may God comfort them in this  intense  condition.
I am glad that our kids are aware of other's people's  situation.  They don't only focus on themselves.  I just wish that we could help   all of the  homeless people.
Here are the  rest of the photos of our cold adventure outdoors.

We had to cut the fun short  because my  hands and feet were so painful that I thought I  will lose them lol.  I was bundled too, I used the  socks that was suppose to keep my toes warm  and  I also worn  two pairs of gloves, still did not help.  It was just to cold.
They were not successful at first but they eventually got it by changing the lane. Our son even rolled down the hill, he couldn't wait for the sled.   Below are a couple of short clips I recorded.  Please don't mind my laughing spill lol.

After our little adventure outside, we all sat down with a hot coco and  talked about our goals for next year.  It's a weekly plan that we plan to do as a family for next year.
From my family to yours,  happy new year!  May the new  year  bring us good health, peace of mind, and prosperity.  God bless!

Our 9-MIle Journey to Fitness Last Part - Going Back

Going back is the hard part  especially if you have rested your body already. The kids were a little exhausted although they were  very  glad that they get to rest their feet and legs for another half our 9-mile walking journey.
Going down Marland Heights was the easy part for the kids.  They were not complaining but I can tell that they were getting wore out.
The sun was starting to unleash it's heat so it was hard on the kids but they were   real troopers.  They just continue without whining.
Even the boys have slowed down so I took the chance of  taking photos of them as e move on.
Weirton is a small city  that boarders three states, PA, WV, and OH.  The steel mill used to be the booming industry here but  according to what I've read, the Union ruined it.  Small part of the mill is still operating but the huge part is no longer inoperation which is sad.  You can see the steel coil onthe background.
You can tell my daughter was already wore out by the time and we still have like 2.5 miles to wlak  hat's why  we di  a short stop and let her rest.
Our son on the other hand wasfull of energy.  He didn't slow down a bit.
I keep motivating my daughter that  we are almost home but she knows that we arejust halway home.
Thi is a natural spring water.  Ihave drink   a couple of times here already and  I didn't get sick.  We didn't let thekids drink here because I am not sure if their immune system can tolerate it.  Even my husband is afraid to take a drink.  Hesaid that his Dad used to get gallons of water from this  place when his grandma is visiting them because  she didn't like city water.
Reaching the top of the hill was a big relief for my little lady, she was otired already.
Wehad to stop again and let her rest for a while before takin the last one mile of our walk.
This is the house that we love along the way.  The front yard is huge.
This is part of St. Paul Cemetery.  We bought three plots on this which will be another post next time, lol.
We finally reached the Pennsylvania Avenue.  The sun was sointense by this time as it was non time already.
I think the last one mile was the hardest for the kids to finish because it was too hot.
We are so thrilled that our children did it without compaining, not even a slight whine came out from them.  We are so proud of them.  Not many kids do this kind of activity especially  at their age. I am so glad we are raising  some real tropper individuals.  It's been 4 days since our long walk.  We have been going for  walks around the neighborhood but no long walk so far.  We might do it again before the summer is over.
