We are almost half through March and I feel like time is taking the fastest route to scape from us. Hubby turned 53 last month. So glad to be able to spend the rest of my life with this guy. He's a wonderful blessing not just to me but to our kids.
He works so hard to provide for our family and I truly appreciate everything that he does. I don't tell him often but my love for him grows each day. It's been 19 years since we made our vow and I so happy to be waking up beside him every morning.
I pray to God to protect my husband from any illness. I don't think I'll be able to go on without him.
We didn't do anything special on his birthday since he had to go to work but we did go to our favorite hangout during that weekend.
We haven't gone to any vacation ever since the Covid restriction BS started so being able to go even for a day on another place is a breath of fresh air.
Thankful that he let me take his pictures. This seldom happens. He joined my kids bandwagon of not being photographed these days.
Dearest John,
Thank you for being the way the man that you are. We are blessed to have you in our lives. We wish you good health and hopefully an early retirement so we can enjoy traveling (wishful thinking). Here's to many more years of celebrating your birthday. We love you very much!
For my 48th birthday, we went to Panhandle Trail and walked three miles. It was long time ago when we last walked there, eleven years ago I think. My children were just 5 and 3 years old when we went there with Jen's family.
Now, 15 and 13, it's been a long time, really so I am so glad that we went. It was a special birthday treat.
My husband took a day off which was a real nice gift. A time spent with your love one is better than any expensive gifts you can ever received. I love this because we seldom get to go for a long walk as he is always working and the kids are busy with school stuff as well.
The modern Panhandle Trail spans 29 miles from Walkers Mill in Collier Township, traversing through the Northern sector of Washington County, to Colliers, West Virginia.
This Panhandle Trail is now part of The Industrial Heartland Trails Coalition, as well as the Great American Rail-Trail that spans from Washington State to Washington, DC.
There were few joggers and walkers there. It's an overall relaxing place to unwind and enjoy the nature while burning some calories.
I would love it if we went earlier but the kids overslept so the sun was out already when we went. It was still relaxing because the trail is surrounded by trees and bushes.
We stopped at the stream and listen to the sound of the water while catching our breaths.
In two years time, I will be in golden age, yay. If it weren't for my knee injury, I would still be running. I love to walk but sometimes I love running as well.
My little guy is always ready to explore. He went down and check the water. I was a bit scared that he would fall and end up wet but thank goodness, he did not.
He saw the tree swqing and wants to try it as well.
I thought he would be able to swing but the rope is too far we couldn't reach it even using a wooden stick.
It would have been nice if he was able to do it.
I am guessing that this part of the trail is a party place for some. The smell of urine was very strong and there were camp fire traces in there.
We only walked up to 1.5 and we came back as the sun was already up and it was hot.
That's how I spent my birthday, out in the nature with my loves.
To my children, I am grateful for the time you took to spend time with your mama.
To my husband, thank you very much for taking a day off. I know that you are very busy with work but I really do appreciate that you spend a day with us.
I definitely want to go back there again. I hope we can all go again as a family. A walk with my husband would be great as well.
I’m not sure how much time I have time left in this Earth but I’m grateful for every single day that I wake up and breathing. I have to admit though that the age is catching up to me physically. There are things that I find it difficult to do especially certain exercises. I no longer have the flexibility that I had in my 20s but I like testing myself anyways so I practice yoga every chance I get.
I can't believe that in three years, I will be in the golden years weeee, here I come! My husband asked me if I wanted to go somewhere on my birthday but I told him I just want to stay home and if he really wants to take me somewhere, I'd love to go to Lowe's lol. He took me there and I found some plants, yay! He also got me a chocolate vine, so hopefully I can let it grow so when it blooms it will remind me of my birthday (just in case I became forgetful in the future).
My son took these pics as a little token for my birthday, thanks my Love!
It rained the night before my birthday with a strong gust of wind so all the peonies were down the next morning. I cut them all and made a bouquet and displayed it in our living room. Peonies doesn't have a great scent but they are beautiful.
My son was very proud that he shopped for a birthday present by himself and he spent his own money. He said it made him so happy that he could do that now where in the previous years, he would just make some things to give me. I told him that homemade gifts are the best anyway but I do appreciate his thoughtfulness. I'm also grateful for a friend who never forget my birthday, thanks sis Dhemz. As always, my daughter makes the best homemade cards.
I was teasing my husband if what should I call him now that he turned 50 years old. I said "Should I go on a sexier version, Fifty Shades of Grey (hair) or Golden Man", he just laughed. Anyway, he had this weight lifting goal of reaching 1000 pound before he turned 50 but he did not achieved it, he was so close though. He did 900+lbs and I can see the big difference now that he is really trying to live a healthier and more active lifestyle.
He was a fit guy when he was still in the Navy but after he retired, he slipped downhill with his exercise routines and gained weight. He is however getting back to shape although it is a bit harder now that he is older but that's the price you pay when you let yourself go. He gets frustrated sometimes because he couldn't do the things that he used to when he was in his prime 20s. I have to remind him of how old he is now in order for him to realized that he ain't as strong as he used to be 30 years ago.
I had fun taking pictures of him when they had the Father and Daughter Dance last Friday. He was exhausted but still managed to have fun with our daughter during the event. He said that the whole day we spent at the History Bowl and the end result was the best birthday gift he has received. He is always supportive of what our children wants to do and I love him for that.
I am so proud of this guy. After serving 20 years in the Navy, he went back to school and got his master's degree. He started a new career after a couple of years of retirement and has been a huge support for us.
He said that being in the military taught him a lot of things in life. It's funny to think that when he was still in the service, he couldn't wait to retire but when he finally retired, I can tell he misses it. I wasn't fond of the constant move but I do love the travel that comes with it. He was spent his tours in Asia so that gave us the opportunity to live in other places.
Good health is always my wish for my family's birthdays. I hope that you will have another 50 years of healthy life so we could be together for a long long time.
We used to watch American Ninja Warrior show and the kids are inspired by it so when we went to a trampoline place called Flight in Pittsburgh, the Ninja Warrior Course is the first thing they tried. They used to say that they want to compete in it someday. Flight's one-of-a-kind obstacle course have some fun but challenging activities. The kids got to experience firsthand similar challenges that they see on TV.
Even though its 35.5 miles from our location, we brought the children to this place so they can have fun during my son's birthday. Our daughter have been to this place with her friends once but our son was never been yet till his birthday. He has been wanting us to bring him here so he was super delighted when we finally brought him here.
I am so glad that both of our children are really close in age because they are so close and love to do things together. It's funny to think that now that we have a bigger house and both of them have their own bedroom but once in a while, they still love to sleep in one room.
My uber goofy little lady always giving me that funny look when I try to take a photo.
Winter is a challenging season when you have kids like mine who are very active during summer time. Finding activities for them to do is a challenge that's why even if the distances of the places they want to go is far from our place, we always try to accommodate their request just so they could have fun and release their energy.
The course was hard at first but our kids did it so many times until they got good at it.
They couldn't do one of the obstacle course because they are too short for it but those they can reach, they loved doing it.
They learned that the obstacles they thought were easy to do is actually hard. I am glad that they still got a good laugh whenever they fell.
My son es funny, every year, he would always say "This is the best birthday ever!" No matter how simple we celebrate their birthdays, they think it is the best. I think the togetherness of the family is what matters most to them which is I am very happy about.
Even though the location of Flight is quite a long drive for us, it was worth it. At the end of the day, they came out from the place all smiles.
We probably want to go back there again. I would like to jump in the trampoline myself lol. Below is one of our favorite American Ninja Warrior.
From the previous years, we always go on a vacation on our daughter's birthday. We always timed our trip on the week when she celebrates her birthday but this year, we kind of slacked on planning it and decided that we should just do small road trips here and there and save the money for next year's vacation. We want to visit my family in the Philippines and we also wish and dream of visiting New Zealand. Anyway, here are 12 things that did during our daughter's birthday month.
1. Watched a 4th of July Parade
The 4th of July parade is always done ahead at our city especially if the 4th falls on a weekday and this year is no different. Seeing their friends be part of the pro-life float encouraged my kids to be part of it too next year. We will see how to join but it's definitely something they wants to do.

2. Watched the Firework With Family Friends
We always watch the fireworks with the Howells but this year they went for a vacation so we joined two families from our church and school to watch it with us. The kids had an absolute blast to be able to watch it with their friends.
3. Planted a Magnolia Tree
To make her 12th birthday as memorable as possible, we planted a magnolia tree at our yard. I know that it is not something you expect to do on birthdays but I thought she will always remember this tree as long as we live here.
4. Water Balloon Fight and Played in the Rain
Thanks to my son for thinking about this activity. He did all the preparation for this activity and it turned out to be a great time for both of them. They even played in the rain as it came down towards the end of their play so it was a big plus. 5. Volunteered at School
Even though it was her birthday, I felt beaming with pride as she decided to go to school and volunteered in preparation to the upcoming Vacation Bible School. From the previous years, it's either she is attending the VBS or we were somewhere vacationing so she never experienced doing this type of outreach program. I am so happy to see her step up her game. She was also happy that she did it because she get to be with some of her friends while doing it so it was memorable for her birthday.
OUr little trip to Columbiana, Ohio was random and unplanned. MY husband wanted to look at Saturn Sky and we went for a ride with him. Although he did not get the car as it was sold 10 minutes before we could get there, we still had a great time looking around in that quaint little town.
Ordinary trips can be extra ordinary if you do it with loved ones right? This road trip was planned but not for the reason of sigh seeing, we went there because my husband wanted to look at another Saturn Sky after a disappointing result of his quest down in Ohio. We are always game when it comes to taking trips because we get to see places we have never been to before so it is exciting to see something new every time. I should have not agreed to purchase it that way we could have taken more road trips but I wanted my husband to have his dream car. After all, he deserved it. Daughter and I had a great time looking around while the boys were enjoying looking at cars.
8. Went to See the New River Gorge Bridge
We live in West Virginia but we have never seen the New River Gorge bridge. Even my husband hasn't seen it and he grew up here. It takes 4 hours to drive downstate that's why we have never been there. Anyway, we finally went and see it and glad that we did, it was gorgeous out there.
9. Camped in the Backyard
Why go to a camp ground if you can do it in your won backyard? I know that's not a real thing , yo]u would say, and it doesn't really give you that real camping feeling but it's good enough for us. It was special because we did for our daughter's birthday and she loved it!
10. Played Tennis
We play tennis regularly but to do it on her birthday is special as well. We were always somewhere vacationing on her previous birthday but this year, we were home so went to play tennis after doing little special things for her. Tennis is something we all enjoyed playing.
I realized that my little girl is no longer a baby and she is turning into a little lady so her likes are changing each time. She told us that she just want some new outfits for her birthday so we took her shopping at Macy's in Robinson since our Macy's here in the area have closed already. She also love shopping at TJMaxx so we took her there too. I love shopping with my daughter because he is a smart shopper. She not only look at the clothing but the price that comes with it. We are not rich so when we shop, we always remember how much the things cost and she is very good at that.
12. Devoured Some Sushi
Eating sushi is quite an ordinary thing for these two but we went out and eat at our favorite Sushi restaurant in the area because that was what she was craving for on her special day. I was going to cook at home but I did not object because that gave me a break from cooking as well. What made this a different from our previous visits was that, they tried the Love Boat Sushi, it was a combination of different sushi. My husband said that since it was her birthday that they should try this one.
We also gave her some random but kind of unique things like the 12 wooden roses. Instead of fresh roses, I thought this would stay longer and she could keep it as a souvenir/ remembrance when she turned 12.
